The Gala Charity
Established in 1974, Victoria Women's Transition House Society (VWTH) collaborates, advocates and educates to address and prevent intimate partner violence (IPV) of women and children through supportive shelter, housing, counseling and other community-based services. The organization operates an 18-bed Emergency Shelter, a 24-hour Crisis & Information Line as well as over a dozen counseling and support programs for women, specialized programs for women 50+ and specialized programs for children who have witnessed abuse. VWTH also has a second-stage, supportive, transitional housing program for older women, and a Safe House. In the Fall of 2024, VWTH will open a newly built, 50-unit second stage housing program in the Westshore for survivors and their children in a short-term and longer-term housing program with on-site support services. Each year, VWTH serves more than 2,000 women and hundreds of children and youth from across Greater Victoria.
